What are some ways massage therapists can increase income?

There are loads of ways to increase your income as a massage therapist. It depends on what you'd like your business to look like.

Memberships help you enjoy recurring income. Creating and enforcing your boundaries prevent loss of income with late cancelations or no-shows. 

Helpful emails that continue to build relationships with your clients keep you top of mind.

And, of course, there is retail and add-ons.

Do massage memberships really help grow a practice?

Absolutely! Massage memberships bring in clients you don't see on a regular basis at least monthly. 

I've launched my membership 3 times since January 2019. Everyone who's joined were NOT regular clients before joining the membership.

I added over $20,000 to my bottom line in 2019 just by adding a membership. And I only marketed to my current clients! My goal is to help YOU do the same.

How can I grow my massage client base?

Leverage social media marketing and partner with local businesses to attract more clients. ๐Ÿ“ˆ

To create more interest in your practice, start by sharing valuable content on social mediaโ€”think massage tips, wellness advice, and behind-the-scenes glimpses of your practice.

Use local hashtags to connect with your community and engage with followers by responding to comments and messages.

Next, team up with local businesses like yoga studios or gyms.

You can cross-promote each otherโ€™s services, create joint content, or even host wellness events together. (They're called "collaborations" on Instagram. ๐Ÿ”— I recently wrote a blog post about this.)

Offering exclusive deals for each otherโ€™s customers is a great way to attract new clients too!

What marketing strategies work best for massage businesses?

To effectively market your massage business, focus on content marketing and SEO to establish expertise and improve search visibility.

Utilize social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram to engage with potential clients and share valuable information. Implement email marketing to maintain client relationships through newsletters and special offers. How about a referral program?

Optimize your Google Business Profile for local searches. Lastly, create unique package deals or loyalty programs to encourage repeat visits and build a stable client base.

As a people pleaser, I have a hard time enforcing rules. Can you help?

Oh friend, I hear you! I was the same way until accidentally selling 492 1.5 hour Groupons back in the day.

But it taught me to learn to stand up for myself, to create rules, policies, and to enforce boundaries.

I hate emailing clients. Why should I???

Most massage therapists only email clients when you're trying to sell them something (like you've got appointments available on Tuesday morning this week and Weds from 1-3).

Clients won't bother to read them if they already have something scheduled.

But if you email them on a regular basis with topics like: ๐Ÿ”— Social Awareness (how to make the world better), helpful tips and tricks, information they find useful, etc., they'll
get to know you better. You'll stay at the forefront of their minds and will be more likely to forward your info to a friend.
